Hints of Spring Pastels!

Can you smell it in the air? That intoxicating and indescribable fresh spring scent…..
The harsh winter, ruthlessly drained the landscape of all the color but spring is working overtime in my part of the world to restore and repaint nature’s canvas. I love the changes this season brings with it…..
  • The frozen ground thaws and fresh shafts of grass begin to push through the soil to kiss the sun;
  • The tinges of sweet fragrance and buttery radiance of daffodils together mixed with other spring pastels that breathe back life into the dreary winter gardens;
  • The musical orchestra of birds tweeting and chirping with the first morning rays of the sun;
  • Warmer, brighter and longer days that invite you to get your dose of Vitamin D;
  • Gardens centers becoming a bevy of activity and those garden pliers and shovels find themselves back in action;
  • Toe nails get painted and the boots get ditched for open toed flirty sandals;
  • Long lines that stretch at the car wash and you waiting impatiently to rediscover your car’s true paint color under all that winter grit and
  • The April showers that make chai time that much more fun! I love it all!
Here are a few frames of the subtle touches of spring at home. I love pairing this soft, pastel, feminine hue with the luster of brass.

When you find fallen flowers on your long walks, what do you do? Bring them home and float them.....

A new tea cup with those cherry blossom motifs, seemed like the perfect way to ring in spring…..
If you don’t see me here too often at the TECD blog, it only mean that I’m out there taking in all that there is to enjoy of this wonderful season:) I truly believe that if it wasn't for winter and the absence of it all, I may not be so receptive to all the wonderful changes that is happening around me…….
Don't you think, floating a few Cherry Blossoms in a brass urli is a wonderful way to bring in a touch of spring to your decor?
Happy Spring!

Put the Kettle On !

When you talk of the luxury lifestyle brand Mackenzie-Childs, the words that come to one's mind are playful, whimsical, iconic "courtly check" pattern and happy! Based in the charming town of Aurora, N.Y., the handcrafted line has gone from producing enamel and pottery tableware to furniture, garden and kitchen accessories, jewelry, handbags, pet gear and a whole lot more.

Creations from their Butterfly Garden collection have been on my wishlist for a while now. Decorated with hand-applied butterfly transfers, each butterfly boasts of a different MacKenzie-Childs'
pattern.
On my lust List !

Love how the regal iconic black and white checkerboard pattern is mixed in with the whimsical butterfly pattern.
With sub-zero temperatures in my part of the world, just looking at these pretty images makes me yearn for Spring.......I picture myself wearing a pretty floral cotton dress, in the company of my favorite ladies...... the sound of carefree laughter and gentle chattering..... the air is filled with the tempting aroma of freshly baked goodies........lavender tea is poured from the pastel blue butterfly kettle.........what bliss!

Color Confidence

What is it that so blatantly makes us different from children??? In my opinion, it's the free spirit, adventurous nature to experiment and incredibly creative attitude. They have no reservations or inhibitions about being judged on their creative labor. The world is their playground to observe, experiment, learn, grow and be happy through this entire process. Which brings us to our today's post.

Remember how ambitious we were as kids when it came to the use of color and our artistic endeavors. Each was a master piece with our ability to use each and every color that the crayon box had to offer. Why, even now my son reminds me of me when he complains endlessly that a 96 count crayola box does not include his perfect green !!!
"If your afraid of color, add it in small doses and let it seep under your skin until your comfortable with what you see. Here a grouping of colorful vases adds a lively contemporary touch to my breakfast nook."
But somewhere along the way, most of us loose this free spirit and virgin quality to use colors to our hearts content. The use of colors on our walls and in decorating our homes becomes a daunting task. We succumb to the pressures of trends, perfect magazine images and tend to equate neutral color palette's with instant sophistication.

In my opinion we have to unlearn what we've learnt when it comes to the use of colors. Adopting the child like quality to experiment even if it means you are the only one whose happy with the way your home looks, is something you have to come to terms with. Remember your home is your haven. And  a wonderful way to make it reflect your personality would be to add touches of colors that make you happy and bring a sense of well-being.

With spring here, I'm  not going to tame my heart. I'm going to be busy using color and using color with confidence and elan !!!

Pretty in Pink

After being exposed to the uninspiring winter landscape, the heart yearns for bold color palettes. The winter has made me fearless when it comes to color. I've been dreaming in PINK, people !!! And these enchanting images from the Swedish home furnishing " Himla" product catalog, in a variety of blushing hues worked their magic and transported me to the "No man's land" (clearly everything is in pink, no man would ever want to live here, right ???).
However, they narrate a perfect story of how I would like to spend my perfect spring evening;)
A quite Shikara style boat ride..........

With Spring here, it calls for a spring soiree and a delectable spread........
 And finally a camp out under the stars as I finally drift off from one fantasy land into another..........
The weekend is here !!! I hope I set the ball rolling for a dreamy weekend. So dream on folks.........

Spring has Sprung !!!

It's officially announced, "Spring has arrived".......we've finally been able to shake off those grey winter skies and emerge from winter's cocoon.....
As tulips and fresh blades of grass push through the dirt to make their presence felt, suddenly our boundaries seem wider as we can now throw open our doors and windows and include the outdoors. Given that with time, the spring palette deepens to a myriad hues, the need to brighten things indoors is heightened.
So let's exercise those decorating muscles and get on with spring cleaning, reorganizing and decorating. I've already managed to stash away the heavy throws and other winter clutter. I plan to have casual flower arrangements grace the corners of my home and add color through runners and floral patterned cushions. Another exercise I indulge in is misting my curtains with my favorite perfume. As the sun shines in, the whole place is enveloped in my favorite fragrance. And to make the most of the the gorgeous weather, we're going to be taking our tea parties outside:)
So enjoy the Spring fever and make the most of those  burgeoning gardens !!!!

In the mood for Pink

Hello and Good Morning Monday !!!

It's been a hectic weekend at my end and the to-do list seems longer than ever.........However, lots of fun things have been happening at the TECD. First of all, the response to the home tour featured last week has been overwhelming ;) Mom and dad haven't stopped grinning from ear to ear, after reading your reviews and wonderful comments. Thank you to each and everyone of you who stopped by and showed your support and encouragement.

As for decorating stories from my home, we've tied the loose ends on the home-office/blogging adda project. Love how it turned out and will be sharing it with you'll very soon. The master bedroom project still has some pending items to be ticked off and the redecorating has been stalled for a little later because of my husbands travel plans.

On a different note, we have family visiting us from India for a whole month. This means spring cleaning has started and little touches are being added to freshen things up for the guests.

And now coming to today's post.Of late, I've been drawn to the color PINK. In fact I have been planning to spruce up my sunroom with this color. Nothing too drastic, just a touch here and there for a statement look. So when I saw these images from the home of Abby Larson (founder of Style Me Pretty), it definitely steered me in the direction of Pink.
Love how green, pink and mustard add the pop of color to an otherwise neutral backdrop. The fact that pink was used in this room and the end result is not a girly space is hard to achieve. I'm looking to recreate the same feel as I'm in the company of two men who are opposed to all things pink.
The once "color phobic" Abby seems to have overcome this dilemma of hers with a little help from Interior designer, mother and daughter duo, Suzanne and Lauren Macgrath of GBGP designs. Everything looks so fresh and all set for the spring. You can take a tour of her home right here.

Until next time, take care and have a wonderful day !!!!

Mint Green??? Yes, Please

I'm happy the weeks coming to an end..... this calls for a happy picture to share with you'll. The minute I set my eyes on this image, it was the fresh color palette that drew me in . The mint green lamp co-ordinates perfectly with the kantha style pillow. The pops of pink and other flowers placed wildly in the vase, give it that laid back dreamy feel. I have a confession to make. I don't know how to stitch, but I definitely see myself reading a book in this bright sunlight washed room. Happy weekend !!!
