Tuesday morning Madness and a Patio turned cottage

Good morning Everyone !!!!

The day started really early at my place today - 5:30 a.m. My family and I need to get accustomed to a whole new routine from today as summer vacation is over and it's time for full time school. With the school bus round the corner at 7:30 a.m., I was doing all  the talking this morning. It was like chanting a mantra over and over again: "Hurry !!!!! Quick !!! and It's getting late !!!!!" What a morning it was - with my son waking up and wondering why mommy was waking him in the night (as it was still a little dark outside).  My husband was doing his bit, by coaxing my son that he could get an extra 1/2 hr on the IPad today if he woke up without a fuss.I was threatening him to the point that I would not be driving him to school if  he missed the bus. We've done the drill several times last week but the real day is D-day.

But somewhere deep down, I wished he missed the bus - so that I could keep him home with me. I'm so used to having him around - with him getting into all my stuff, not letting me think or complete one sentence without  him interrupting me and  most of all following me like a kitten everywhere I go .

Time just flies - my little honeypot is 61/2 years old. I can't believe it that he's starting full time school. I know, I'll be OK in a day or two but for now I can't wait for him to come back. Thank God I had my husband with me. I'm usually one of those people who can't think straight without my cup of tea in the morning, but today it's 9 already and it didn't even cross my mind until now.

Now for the decor inspiration of today. I'm the kind of girl who likes to induce a lot of bright color into a home. But this Scandinavian style cottage in Norway is something else. It's neutral color palate with different textures and a warm fire place drew me to it instantly.

This mountain cottage started off as just being a patio. When the couple who own this place could not get enough of the outdoors and the views, they decided to encase the space with huge glass windows so as to not obstruct the view of the Storfjorden. The ball kept rolling from there until  it revealed itself into a cozy little cottage.

I heart the coffee table -  it's a bread box from a bakery.

Simple outdoor chairs revived with a fresh coat of paint and topped off with hand knitted through pillows.

The gorgeous fire place was built by a local craftsmen. A collection of wicker baskets hung on the wall add texture and create a stunning display.

Votive candles are always a great way to dress up and add mood light to any space.

For those of you good at DIY projects this concrete console table supported by branches of a tree is a great weekend inspiration project. And I love the Blankets stocked up for those chilly winter evenings.

Have a wonderful week and stay tuned for some wonderful "Ganesha Inspiration "coming up tomorrow.

  2. I totally agree with you Neena. "Simple yet stylish at the same time" is a combination hard to master I would say.And this home showcases that so beautifully.
